Daily Refreshed In Him

Some Devotional Guidelines

1.   Say thank you and Praise Him upon waking.
2.   Ask, "What do You have for me this morning?"
3.   Open a hymnal and pick a song to have on your heart and mind.
4.   Read a portion of scripture,  praying as you read.
5.   Asking, "What does this mean to me?"
6.   Read a devotional with your highlighter in hand.
7.   Leaving it in God's hand, resting peacefully.
8.   Thank Him for His presence.
9.   Get up and get on with your day.

This is an excerpt from a post by Robert Wogemuth after his wife Bobbi passed away, it was a little slip of paper that fell out of her Bible.  A pattern for us all.  I would add one thing to it and that would be to spend time in prayer, you'll be glad you did!

Drawing*  Leave a comment on any of the December postings and you'll be entered into a drawing for some wonderful devotionals that I'm still putting together, I will post a picture soon of what will be sent to the winner! The drawing will be Monday December 21, 2015!

Keeping Your Heart

What do you suppose filled Mary's thoughts during her journey to Bethlehem? Did she think back on the moment she first heard she would carry the Son of God?  Did she replay the angel's unexpected words over and over in her mind?  At first Mary was troubled by the words...and then we see her sweet surrender as Luke 1:38 tells us, "Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to Thy will."  What a beautiful picture of trust.  May your heart be surrendered to the Lord as Mary's was this Christmas season.

Wonderful Bruschetta!

Ok, it doesn't get any easier than this!!
If your on a Costco run your thissssss close to a wonderful
appetizer, snack or gift!!
This is so easy and great to take to a Christmas Party too.

1 can 14.5 oz. Kirkland Signature Organic Chopped Tomatoes (drained)
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
1 Tbsp. McCormick Bruschetta Sweet Basil & Oregano Seasoning Mix

Mix all the ingredients in a medium bowl.
Let the mixture sit to allow the flavors to blend.
Serve on top of deli baguettes sliced into serving sizes,
lightly toasted if you like.

Serving ideas:  Delicious over pasta and chicken
or even served on top of a baked potato.

Kirkland Deli Baguettes (pkg. of 6)

Wrap Up Something Special

Wouldn't your Molasses cookies from my last post
look adorable wrapped up like this?
For the bag on the left, take any tea towel or scrape of material,
place right sides together and with your glue gun
glue your two sides and the bottom together like you would for a pillow case,
leaving one side open for your top.
you can machine stitch as well, turn right side out.
If you'd like the tea towel to be a gift as well
don't glue or sew just fold under and tie closed.
For any kind of word on your gift bag
you can handwrite on the material
or if you'd rather you can cut out a word from a Christmas card
or print something out on the computer and glue to the material.
It would be really cute machine stitched around your inscription!
Enjoy embellishing with twine, jingle bells,
a small cutting from your Christmas tree,
cinnamon sticks, pinecones and berries or whatever is close at hand.

I (Linda T.) shared this wonderful verse
with Kari,
which is perfect for all our marriages -

"Now may the God of patience and comfort
grant you to be like-minded toward one another,
according to Christ Jesus,
that you may with one mind and one mouth
glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Romans 15:5

 Kari was presented with
 "12 Dates"
A date for her and Clint to enjoy
each month of their first year of marriage!!

to exploring the parks in Colorado,

also a technique class at a French Cooking store
and an evening at home baking cookies
and much much more!!

We all presented her with a personalized Bible

to : Clint & Kari Walder

Kari with two of her bridesmaids!
Katy, thank you for closing our Bridal Breakfast with a precious prayer for Kari.

Linda J. sent us home with her
d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s
Granola as our favor.
And since so many of you were asking for the recipe, here it is:

God's Granola Mix
(From Calvary Chapel Conference Center)
Ingredients:
1 cup slivered almonds
1 1/2 cups coconut (sweetened flakes)
6 cups rolled oats (not quick)
1 1/2 cup walnuts (coarsely chopped)
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
pinch of nutmeg
1 cup canola oil
1 cup honey
instructions-
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  Baking time is 10-12 minutes.
In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except the oil and honey.  Mix the oil and honey in a saucepan and heat on the stove until it begins to boil, remove from heat.  (Keep an eye on this, when it begins to brown it can get hot too quickly.)  When the honey and oil are heated, combine with the dry ingredients and stir with a spoon.  Spread out on a cookie sheet and bake.  You may need to bake it in two batches.  After it cools, store in an airtight container.
Other ingredients can be added to your liking before baking, such as sunflower seeds, or other nuts or grains;  or after cooking, such as dried fruits, raisins or even chocolate chips.

Bridal Blessings!!

Come...be filled

"For I will satisfy the weary soul,
and every languishing soul I will replenish."
Jeremiah 31:25

The sweetest and cutest cookies!
Janie had them made especially for our retreat
by Brandi O'Conner at the Riverside Cookie Shoppe.
 Enjoying our morning together.
 Las Casuelas
It makes me nervous with those two behind me...
Our new plate to share,
I loved this plate and all the words affirming what H & K is -
Home, Blessings, Family, Fun, Devotion, Celebrate,
Memories ever after, Share & Care, Gather Together.
now we have two plates to pass around...
Who will get this new plate soon??
 Heart...Home...Quilt
We each brought a treasured teacup
and shared why it was special.
The yellow roses in Lyn's teacup reminds me of our Welcome Home rose bushes!
Well almost all of us brought a tea cup...
I am pleased to introduce our first Southern Belle to our group, Dixie
(er, I mean Janie)
since Janie was so busy blessing us with a homemade breakfast
she forgot her teacup,
not to worry - her dixie cup told a story as well!!
I think she's an adorable Southern Belle!!
Reminiscent and memorable...
A  tea cup that holds precious memories for Linda.
Christy shared her mug from Hume Lake,
a place that holds so many fun times for her family.
Well, and then their is Pam
who is holding a Starbucks travel mug...
well that counts cuz they sell tea!
This was my "teacup"
that I used for part of my devotion,
"Come...be filled."
We often bring a very small part of ourselves to the Lord
to be filled when He wants to fill us abundantly to overflowing!
"He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him..."
Hebrews 11:6b
We celebrated our Ruthie's retirement from teaching!

Delicious!!
Several got sent to the Principal's Office this weekend!!
 We made cute little banners.
Each year we all pick a "word"
that helps us stay focused on the Lord.
We put them on a banner to hang where we can see them each day.
